Southnord Artfest 2026: Amos Rex

Helsinki’s foremost contemporary art museum, Amos Rex is the producer and co-curator of the main exhibition The Other Side of the Mountain. It is known for presenting new, experimental and immersive contemporary art. Its underground galleries with high-vaulted undulating ceilings, lit from above through skylights that rise through Lasipalatsi plaza, are among the most distinctive exhibition spaces in the Nordic region.

This is the festival’s centre of gravity — the place where the main themes of the Artfest live within the works and radiate out into greater Helsinki. Over the course of the Artfest, artist talks, film screenings, performances and community gatherings at Amos Rex will offer sustained and varied ways to engage with the exhibition. Emeka Ogboh’s performance dinner Migratory Notes is a highlight to look out for, and Good Hair Day’s family day Let’s Play will round off the Artfest. Let the exhibition unfold slowly as you wander through the urban fields between the artworks, created by the exhibition architect Kunlé Adeyemi and his team at NLÉ. Each visitor’s pathway through the works is unique, anchored and guided by the graphic design of Violetta Boxill. Come for the opening, and come back again to discover new perspectives.
