Southnord Artfest is a triennial celebration dedicated to Black Nordic contemporary art.
The first edition of the Southnord Artfest was inaugurated in 2023 in Stockholm, with the ambition of showcasing contemporary art by Afro-diasporic artists born or situated in the Nordic region. Conceived as a nomadic event, the Artfest will be hosted in a different Nordic city every three years.
Each edition brings together a wide-ranging programme of exhibitions, performances, talks, workshops, screenings, and community gatherings, all designed to explore new ways of seeing, making, and being together.

Southnord Artfest 2023
26 October 2023 - 14 January 2024
Southnord x Kulturhuset was the inaugural Southnord Artfest. Hosted by Kulturhuset in Stockholm, the festival brought together some of the Nordics’ foremost contemporary artists, some hidden gems, and legendary forerunners. Their common denominator was their African heritage and their Nordic context, which they used to examine what it means to be a complex and multifaceted human being.
