The Other Side of the Mountain opens with a keynote by Minna Salami, an author and social critic whose book Sensuous Knowledge: A Black Feminist Approach for Everyone inspired the exhibition title. In her keynote, Minna will open up the story of a mountain and reflect on the exhibition’s themes through the lens of Sensuous Knowledge. This is followed by artist presentations featuring Adji Dieye, Akinbode Akinbiyi, Emeka Ogboh, Ibrahim Mahama, Jeannette Ehlers, Karl Ohiri, Liisa-Irmelen Liwata, Loulou Cherinet, Lungiswa Gqunta, and Sandra Mujinga, all featured in the exhibition. Their practices are grounded in multi-sensory experience, the knowledge carried by materials and landscapes, and an intuitive encounter with the world.
