Designer Talk - Harriet Allure
For Stockholm Design Week 2025, Southnord hosted an intimate artist talk with Harriet Allure, creators of luxurious, hand-crafted candles rooted in the intersection of Afro-Germanic heritage and nomadic identity. Harriet Allure’s scented candles are the result of a shared journey of the two long-time friends, Freddy and Alex, who were born and raised Germany with roots in Ghana, West Africa.
Despite their different paths, they share a common understanding of both countries as their home. Their experience of them being caught between two worlds, having a nomadic lifestyle or simply just missing home inspired them to create a product that resonates with people who have similar experiences. The candles represent the light amid the darkness of life, the hope for a bright future, and the nostalgia of cherished people and special places.
Coinciding with opening night of Southnord's inaugural collections exhibition "Mindscape", Freddy and Alex guided us through the evocative power of scent—exploring how memory, identity, and belonging can be distilled into fragrances that light up both space and soul.
