Image: A double portrait of Harvey Cropper by Louis Faye
Southnord’s Summer Braai
This June, we invite you to a special summer gathering at Southnord—an open-door celebration marking the close of our exhibition Mindscape and welcoming the latest addition to our permanent collection: Louis Faye’s striking double portrait of Harvey Cropper.
Taken in Stockholm in the 90s, the portrait captures a quiet intensity that speaks to the creative pulse of that era. Harvey Cropper, a central figure in the city’s Black cultural scene, is remembered not only for his bold aesthetic but for the magnetic community he nurtured around his studio. This gathering brings that energy back to life—connecting the past with the present through art, music and shared memory.
The event will serve as both a soft closing and a quiet reveal—bringing attention to the portrait and reactivating the broader themes of the show through food, conversation and community. It will also feature storytelling from those who knew him and hang out at his studio. Join us in honouring a legacy, a life, and the living history held in this work.
