VISUAL POETRY OPEN CALL

poem snippet: Shea, nasra adem

Southnord is preparing a VISUAL POETRY offering during the artfest at Kulturhuset on 27 October in collaboration with The Poetic Phonotheque. We invite ALL visual poets of African descent in the Nordic region to submit your poetic contributions in the form of animations, experimental short films, video collages, etc. Old and new works are welcome!

The Poetic Phonotheque is an international archive of multimedia poetry started in 2020 on International Poetry Day to bring poetry in the voice of their authors to an international community isolated by the pandemic. The collection now houses over 500 audiovisual poems from all over the world in various languages. In 2021, Kulturhuset Islands Brygge joined the project to house and feature the collection in Denmark, with a focus on climate, culture, and reconnecting our communities.

A selection for the Southnord Visual Poetry evening will be curated by Elizabeth Torres, founder of the Poetic Phonotheque together with Marcia Harvey Isaksson, founder of Southnord.

All submitted poetry films from this open call will be invited to be part of the permanent archive of both the Poetic Phonotheque and Southnord.
