Join us for a screening of Ballroom – Danser pour exister (2025), Amandine Gay’s documentary series on the ballroom scene in France, followed by a conversation between Gay and fashion designer and Professor of Practice Ervin Latimer.

Amandine Gay
Amandine Gay divides her time between creation and advocacy. Filmmaker-producer (Speak Up -2017; A Story of One’s Own -2021), writer (A Chocolate Doll -2021) and founder of Adoptee Awareness Month in the francophone world, she defines herself as a political author. In 2025, Ballroom, her first docuseries is broadcasted on France Télévisions’ plaftorm; while her second essay, Vivre, libre, is published by editions La Découverte. In 2026, her first book gets an Italian edition, Una bambola di cioccolato, by Fandango Libri. In 2026-2027, she’s a fellow at Villa Medici (Rome). Ervin Latimer
Ervin Latimer is an award-winning fashion designer, textile artist and Professor of Practice in Fashion at Aalto University. Latimer's creative practice revolves around questions of gender performance, Afro-Nordic identity and the use of post-consumer waste textiles. Latimer is the founder of the internationally renowned ready-to-wear label Latimmier, and in 2025 he was featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's prestigious Superfine: Tailoring Black Style exhibition.
